The Indicator Probe is a special use
probe, which shows the amount that standard
probes are deflected in a test fixture.
The indicator probe's plunger does not
return to its original extended position
after deflection. Indents in the side
of the probe tube interfere with the free
motion of the plunger and hold it at the
position of maximum deflection. After
numerous uses the indicator probe may
lose its ability to remain in the deflected
position and should be replaced.
Indicator Probes are identical in external
dimensions to their standard counterparts.
The entire plunger is unplated, so that
it can be easily distinguished from a
standard probe. Indicator probes are not
intended for use as electrical contacts.
The Indicator Probe is available with
the #10-Headed Flat tip or the #40-Headless
Spherical tip. The Headless Spherical
tip is intended for use in guided probe
fixtures. Indicator probes are available
for the 050-R/T25, 075-25, 100-25/40,
X50-25/40 and X75-25/40 probe series.
A standard probe is removed from the
fixture and replaced with the appropriate
indicator probe. The fixture is reassembled,
cycled once, and reopened. The plunger
of the indicator probe will remain in
the deflected position, showing its maximum
deflection during fixture actuation. |
